Day 57 - July 27 - Tok, Alaska to Destruction Bay, Yukon - 221 miles, 9.5 mpg

We drove along the edge of the Tustin Wildlife Refuge for most of the morning.  This area is known as the coldest part of Alaska.  The refuge lies in a large Valley east of  Wrangell-Elias National Park, and is adjacent to several other parks and refuges, including those in Canada.  Speaking of Canada, we then crossed the border again.

The drive was replete with many frost heaves in the road, so we had to use extreme caution.  It was very rough in spots.  On a positive note, we drove past mountains, National Parks, rivers, trees, marshes, and muskeg.  We experienced a little bit of rain, but not enough to get us wet.

The host at the RV Park provided an outstanding meal, and arranged for entertainment with a local Canadian Country singer.  He talked more than he sang, but it was fun nevertheless.  I even played the bagpipes, but could not get on stage because the ceiling was too low for the pipes!
