Day 29 - June 30, Whitehorse, Yukon to Dawson City, Yukon - 336 miles

Very long ride today.  Not much scenery, as the skies were smoky due to the many forest fires in northern Canada and Alaska.  No wildlife sightings.  We stoped at Bedfords for a famous cinnamon bun, but it did not match the quality of Cinabon.  Sorry!  Stopped a second time for a bathroom break, but other than these two stops, we pressed on.  Oops, that was a mistake!  When we arrived in Dawson City, the wagonmasters had just pulled in, so we had to wait for them to organize who goes into which spots, depending on length of rigs and pullouts.  No worries, we were not in a hurry.

Unfortunately, one of our fellow travelers had a casualty on his trailer wheel, which caught fire after a bearing seizure.  Actually, the tire never caught fire, but the grease from the bearing and the hydraulic brake fluid were burning.  He was only a couple miles from camp when this happened.  Turns out he had to find a new axle and bearings, which he did the following day, even though it was a holiday (Canada Day).  He drove to Fairbanks to pick up the new parts, and then back again the following day.  He will be back on the road the same day as the rest of us, thankfully.
