Day 9 - June 10 West Glacier to Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, 143 miles, 9.3 mpg
Departed West Glacier, crossed the Continental Divide on US 2, then left the mountains, and out to the prairie. "From the mountains, to the prairies...."
Beautiful vistas, and a relatively short drive, 3 hours.
The border crossing could not have been easier. Handed over our two passports and the dog's health report, and answered a few questions, then we were on our way. What were the questions? "Do you have any firearms or fireworks with you?" "Are you carrying any firewood?" "Just the one pet?" "Are you carrying any alcohol or tobacco?" "How many days will you be in Canada?"
I read a lot of horror stories about how they search your RV, confiscate your eggs, and count how much meat you have (20kg per person is allowed). Anyway, it was quite easy, and took all of three minutes!
Took Clancy for a long walk in the evening, and my prescription glasses must have fallen out of my pocket. Darn! I had mentioned to Dianne about bringing along my spare pair, but then forgot to pack them. Had to go to town to get some cheaters, and then contacted my Aunt to mail my spare pair to an upcoming RV park. Ugh!
